Everyone wants to have the perfect, beautiful wedding, but sometimes reality, and cost, can seem to get in the way of that. This doesn’t have to be the case! There are a multitude of tips and tricks for throwing a gorgeous wedding without breaking the bank. With a little bit of effort, and a lot of ingenuity, there’s literally no reason why you can’t have the wedding of your dreams regardless of your budget. Especially with the internet on side, you have an endless resource of information and tutorials to help you. We’ve put together a list of five of the cheapest and most effective ways to decorate your wedding.
1. Fabric, Fabric, Fabric
You can buy meters and meters of fabric in whatever colour best matches your overall theme from craft shops and haberdasheries relatively cheaply. You could consider going directly to a fabric manufacturer and putting in a bulk order directly. Simply draping and hanging fabric everywhere gives a wedding a warm, welcoming, classy feel that won’t fail to impress your guests, and won’t break the bank.
2. Get Whatever You Can Second-Hand
Start scouring and trawling through charity shops and car-boot sales. A lot of useful, potentially beautiful, ideas and objects that can complement and improve your wedding can be found for next to nothing. Just take a look at the multitude of well-done DIY weddings online and you’ll see tons of examples of second-hand knick-knacks, glassware and bits and pieces decorating a wedding beautifully.
3. Do It Yourself!
Anything and everything you can do yourself, do yourself. Decorating, setting-up, making bits and pieces such as centre pieces. Anything that you can make cheaply yourself, do. Just look over your plans, and identify what can be done by you or friends, and what can be replaced by something within your means. Maximising the DIY options can save you a whole bundle of cash, while giving the wedding an earthy, pragmatic tone that’ll ring truer than any over-expensive, over-the-top wedding.
4. Use Candles, a Lot
Candles look amazing. They look romantic, timeless and classy. They’re also really cheap, especially when put against something like flowers. Making extensive use of candles instead of flowers can be an elegant, gorgeous and romantic touch that can give a wedding an unusual and unique taste. Everyone uses flowers, which should be enough reason alone to try something different, especially when candles can be prettier, cheaper and more effective.
5. Choose the Best Venue Possible
If you have a gorgeous venue, you don’t need to decorate it as much, its common sense really. If you offset the money saved on decorations necessary in a cheaper venue against using a more expensive venue, you might be surprised. Decorations are expensive, in both money and time, so being able to save on both of those can be massively helpful when planning something as huge as a wedding. Remember, the adage is less is more. Don’t overdo it, use a classy, perfect venue, and save money for better food, or honeymoon, etc.
